The May 2019 Employee of the Month is Michelle Laconte-Poeschel, medical assistant (credentialed/certified) in the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology.  Her nominator said:  “Each and every day, Michelle gives 110%. She is dependable and respectful of others. She is always the first person to jump in and help a fellow employee. She takes time with our patients to help educate them on the many different procedures, labs, tests, etc. She also takes time and patience to help educate and teach new and incoming staff. Michelle is a vital part of the team and we are blessed to have her as a member of Team Urology!”

Michelle answered a few questions:

1.  What’s your job title?
I am CMA for the Department of Surgery/Urology.

2.  How long have you worked at the School?
I have worked for SIU for one year.

3.  What do you like best about your job?
I love and care about the people I work with, especially my desk-mate Shalonda Blan, who keeps my sense of humor going. I appreciate the doctors, NPs, PAs and nurses who were patient while I was learning about urology, and the other CMAs who took me under their wings. I also feel privileged to work with Barb, Kara and all of the Urology call center and front desk staff who work hard to keep the flow of the clinic going.

4. “I highly recommend …”
Finding a job that you love and care about.
