Brain Awareness Day at Franklin Middle School

Published Date:

Graduate students and research staff from the Department of Pharmacology at SIU School of Medicine organized “Brain Awareness Day” for 8th grade students at Franklin Middle School on Friday, March 3, 2023.

During the event, students and research staff delivered an engaging presentation that included a demonstration of a sheep brain dissection and a memory game. The presentation was a great opportunity for students to learn about the complexities of the brain in a fun and interactive way.

The Department of Pharmacology supported this event by providing supplies and Neuroscience-related gifts for the kids. The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives provided interactive handouts and booklets to support the event. SIUSOM extends special thanks to 8th grade science teachers Brett Troemper and Camille Alger for the opportunity to teach their wonderful students.
